Bent Out of Shape – Who Laughs Last E.P

Demons Run Amok Entertainment

2020 wasn’t a great year for most people but for Dutch streetpunks Bent Out of Shape it was fairly decent, a year in which they released their excellent Demo CD which was a great introduction to what the band are about and was well received. It was the 7 tracks on this CD that got the attention of Demons Run Amok Entertainment who have recently released the band's first slab of wax, ‘Who Laughs Last’.

The 4 tracks on ‘Who Laughs Last’ continues where they left off by giving us melodic hard-hitting streetpunk which is influenced by classic bands like Blitz, Cock Sparrer, Stars & Stripes and The Beltones. The title track kicks things off and what a start it is. ‘Who Laughs Last’ is a song with great riffs, catchy melodies and brilliant gang vocals which sets the tone for the rest of the E.P.

If you like sing-along anthems, then this E.P is for you as the band deliver another 3 excellent songs that I guarantee will be stuck in your head for days on end. The first of these is ‘Paying Tribute’, a catchy song with a great chorus and is my probably my favourite song on the E.P. Next up is the brilliant ‘Lost in the System’ before they end this fine release with a tribute to their hometown with ‘In Fryslân’, another gem of a song from a band who seem to be getting better and better.

Bent Out of Shape are a band to keep an eye on and I’m hoping for another release soon. This record deserves a place in your collection.
