LVGER – Fvll Villian

Contra Records, LSM Vinyl & BZRKR

New York’s LVGER are a street rock ‘n’ roll band that feature past and current members of The Templars and 45 Adapters and are have just released their 2nd album ‘Fvll Villian’ which is a follow up to last year’s self-titled debut. That album past me by so I wasn’t sure what to expect when the new album landed in my inbox. The band mix street rock ‘n’ roll, 70’s hard rock, heavy metal and doom with great results. If you like bands like Battle Ruins, Black Sabbath, Mötorhead and the Cro-mags you should check these guys out.

The 9 tracks on ‘Fvll Villain’ are brutal and aggressive and heavy which needs to be played loud. At first, I wasn’t sure what to make of the album and thought it leaned to much towards heavy metal, but I stuck with it and I’m glad that I did. The album is played with a punk attitude so instead have long, boring solo’s and tracks that seem to last forever the songs aren’t that long(the longest is just under 4.30 minutes) and the solo’s aren’t over used or too long.

So, after several listens I have to say that I love this album and will be listening to it for some time to come. There are so many highlights on ‘Fvll Villain’ including the title track, ‘Get Out’, ‘BZRKR’ ‘Read My Mind’, the excellent ‘Psycho Machine’, but for me the added bonus is the band’s take ‘Never Surrender’ by the Blitz which is a killer version.

If you like your music on the heavy side, you need to check this band out. I’m off now to check out their debut!
