No Restraints/Spider Crew – Through Our Veins

Randale Records, Olde Tyme Records, Spook Records & WTF Records

I have to say that I am a big fan of the split single where you get bands from different countries, different scenes or in this case, a band who are just starting out who share a slab of wax with a band that has had a had a solid 20-year career. ‘Through Our Veins’ sees Italian street core band No Restraints team up with the Austrian hardcore powerhouse Spider Crew to give us a double A-sided split single featuring 2 tracks each band.

Hailing from Vercelli, Italy, No Restraints area 4-piece of Johnny (vocals), Fax (guitar), Fere (bass) and Dave (drums) who formed in 2019 mixing Oi! with New York style hardcore with great results. The band have been mastering their sound on the live circuit and have shared a stage with the likes of Crim, Maid Of Ace and the mighty Exploited before heading into the studio to record the 2 tracks for this, their debut release. I have to say that I am really impressed with ‘Lies’ and ‘The blackest of Sheep’ both of which are powerful, melodic with brilliantly written lyrics and sing-along choruses. What’s not to like? All in all, this is a decent start to their career and I’m looking forward to what they do next.

On the flip side, we have the excellent old school hardcore sound of Spider Crew who delve into their back catalogue for this release. First up, the band give us ‘Through Their Veins’ from ‘Too Old to Die Young’ before heading to 2017’s ‘Sounds of Hatred’ for the excellent ‘Won’t Break Free’. Both tracks are brilliant, but it would’ve been nice to something new from this excellent band.

This E.P is a worthy addition to anyone’s collection which sees the new boys on the scene mixing with the old guard and makes for a decent listen.
